❓Generos FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Generos Protocol: a regenerative economy where generosity generates abundance.

chevron-rightWhat is the Generos Protocol?hashtag

Generos is a regenerative economy protocol where every act of giving generates lasting economic value. It is not a platform for one-time donations, not an investment vehicle, not a social network. It is a new economic system built on a founding insight: generosity generates abundance.

In Generos, when you give gems to others, you earn vaults. When those vaults fill and cycle, they produce Gencoin (a token backed 1:1 by USDC). That Gencoin can be contributed to causes or converted to USDC, creating a system where generosity produces real economic power.

The protocol is designed for humans and agents. You provide the intent. Your agents handle the execution, translating your values into economic action while you live your life.

chevron-rightHow is this different from a donation platform?hashtag

Donation platforms are one-way: you give money, it's gone, the system ends. Generos is cyclical. You give gems, earn vaults, those vaults generate Gencoin, and that Gencoin is yours (to direct to causes or convert to USDC).

This distinction matters. Traditional giving depletes the giver. Generos regenerates them. The more you give, the more you generate, the deeper your stake in the causes you support. You're not just helping; you're becoming an owner of the economy you're building.

chevron-rightWhat is USDC and why does Generos use it?hashtag

USDC is a stablecoin (a digital currency backed 1:1 by US dollars held in real bank accounts). It is real money, just digital.

Generos uses USDC to back Gencoin's value. When you purchase a gem for $5, approximately 80% ($3.75) flows directly into the Redemption Treasury. This treasury backs every Gencoin in circulation. You can audit it. You can verify it. There is no speculation; just real financial backing for the value you generate.

USDC also means that when you redeem your Gencoin to USDC, you receive actual money that can be withdrawn to your bank account.

chevron-rightWhat is a vault and how does it work?hashtag

A vault is a digital container that generates Gencoin when filled with gems. Here's how it works:

  1. You gift a gem to someone else; you earn a new vault

  2. Gems flow into that vault (both direct gifts and indirect flow from your network)

  3. When the vault fills with the required number of gems, it cycles

  4. On each cycle, the vault generates Gencoin (10 GGC for a Ruby vault, up to 1000 GGC for an Amethyst vault)

  5. The vault immediately begins filling again

Vaults are your personal Gencoin generators. The more vaults you have, the more Gencoin you generate over time. You earn vaults by giving gems to others.

chevron-rightWhat is Gencoin?hashtag

Gencoin (GGC) is the protocol's primary token. It is valued at $1 USD and is backed by real USDC held in the Redemption Treasury.

Gencoin is generated exclusively through vault cycles (when filled vaults cycle, they produce Gencoin). This creates a direct link between generosity (which fills vaults) and value creation (which cycles vaults).

Once you have Gencoin, you can:

  1. Contribute it to organizations and funding goals you care about

  2. Convert it to USDC through Seed Redemption

Gencoin represents the protocol's core promise: generosity generates lasting economic value.

chevron-rightWhat is Give β†’ Generate β†’ Grow?hashtag

Give β†’ Generate β†’ Grow is the three-step cycle that powers Generos:

Give: You gift gems to others. Each gift earns you a vault and strengthens your network.

Generate: Your vaults fill (through direct gifts and indirect gem flow) and cycle, generating Gencoin backed by USDC.

Grow: You direct your Gencoin to causes or convert it to USDC. You deepen your economic stake in the protocol. Then you give again.

This cycle compounds. More giving creates more vaults. More vaults generate more Gencoin. More Gencoin enables deeper participation. The more you participate, the stronger the entire network becomes.

chevron-rightWhat is an agent in Generos?hashtag

An agent is an AI that participates in Generos on your behalf (gifting gems, managing vaults, directing Gencoin to causes, and handling redemptions).

You provide the intent: which causes matter to you, how much you want to participate, when to engage. Your agent handles the execution. It gifts gems automatically, monitors vault cycles, directs Gencoin aligned with your values, and converts value to USDC when you choose.

This is The New Partnership: you bring the why, your agents handle the how. Virtue cannot be automated, but the infrastructure around it can be.

Agents can be personal (working only for you) or external (from other platforms). All agents interact with Generos through the same JSON-RPC API, ensuring equal access to the protocol.

chevron-rightWhat are Protocol Accountability Metrics?hashtag

Protocol Accountability Metrics are statistics that measure your participation and impact in Generos:

  • Intention: The number of intentional acts of generosity you've completed (gems gifted, causes supported)

  • Influence: The number of unique people you've supported with gems

  • Impact: The total Gencoin you've contributed to organizations

  • Return on Generosity (ROG): How efficiently your gem investments have generated Gencoin

  • G/E Ratio: The percentage of earned Gencoin you've directed to causes versus kept

These metrics are not about status; they're about accountability. They show the community what you're building and what matters to you.

chevron-rightHow do I get started?hashtag

Getting started in Generos requires three steps:

  1. Request an invite: Generos is currently invitation-based. Request access at generos.io

  2. Verify your identity: Complete standard know-your-customer (KYC) requirements

  3. Make your first gift: Begin with a $5 gem to another community member. This earns your first vault and confirms your commitment to generosity

From there, the cycle starts. Your first vault begins filling with gems from your network. When it's full, it cycles and generates Gencoin. You can contribute that Gencoin to causes or convert it to USDC.

The protocol is designed for marathon giving, not sprints. Start small, pace yourself, and let the network amplify your impact over time.
